One of the tales that has made Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary infamous is his purchase of a Dublin taxi licence so he can drive in the city’s bus lanes. It means the mouthy chief executive can avoid traffic jams on his daily commute to Ryanair’s offices near the city’s airport.
Now it would seem that Deal Or No Deal presenter Noel Edmonds has followed his lead. The former DJ and Swap Shop presenter has purchased an old black cab so he can drive in Bristol’s bus lanes on his daily commute to the show’s studios in the city. He has even gone as far to fit a fake taxi license plate to the cab that reads ‘Action Against Time Thieves’.
Bristol councillor Gary Hopkins was outraged by Edmond’s actions. “Nobody, not even a major film star, has the right to special treatment,” he screamed to the local press. “And Mr Edmonds is only a teatime game show host.”
But Edmonds has suffered from one unexpected problem from his little plan. He has had to fit a shop mannequin in the back seat as locals had a tendency to jump into the cab at traffic lights.
