It is now 13 years since the Govia joint venture between England’s Go Ahead Group (65%) and Keolis (35%) started operating trains in the UK. Govia was formed in the mid-1990s during the first round of rail privatisation when it won the Thameslink franchise in 1997. That franchise was captured by FirstGroup in 2006, but the partnership has proved successful.
