Transport secretary Lord Adonis has informed National Express that the group’s East Anglia rail franchise will end in early 2011. The group will not win an optional extension of the franchise to 2014, offered for good performance.
Adonis said that work to begin refranchising East Anglia would commence immediately. NEG said that it had expected the decision, despite its “excellent performance” over the last five years....
