‘Drivers confused by emergency service traffic rules'

A third of drivers do not know the current rules on how to deal with approaching emergency service vehicles, according to an Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) report.

The poll found that a quarter of people would go through a red light to let an emergency vehicle through, which is illegal. Almost a third have entered a bus lane to allow access to an emergency vehicle, which often results in fines.
