20mph plan for Birmingham

 

Birmingham City Council has discussed a proposal to reduce the speed limit to 20mph on residential roads in the city.

Liberal Democrat councillors are seeking a lower speed limit to cut road accidents and save lives. David Willis, representing South Yardley, said that lowering the speed limit would reduce child accidents by 70%, and pointed out that half of people hit by a car doing 30mph will die compared to 10% at the lower limit....
