Parking patrols given powers to issue littering fines

People found dropping litter in Southampton could now be issued with on-the-spot fines by civil enforcement officers (CEOs) and other council staff. CEOs and other enforcement officers received enhanced powers to tackle littering under a new scheme in cooperation with the police.

The city’s 30 CEOs and other council staff now have the power to issue the £75 fixed penalty notices.
