Lane rental scheme sets daily charge for utilities

 

The Department for Transport has approved Transport for London’s application to introduce the UK’s first lane rental system under which utility companies will face daily charges for working on the road.

The scheme, due to be introduced on 11 June, will see utility companies charged up to £2,500 a day. Charges will apply to 57% of the TfL road network.
