DfT seeks advice on drug-driving crime

 

A new criminal offence of driving a vehicle after using an illegal drug is to be considered by a panel of experts convened by the Department for Transport (DfT).

The department said that it would examine the case for a new specific drug-driving offence – alongside the existing one – which would simplify the need for the police to prove impairment on a case-by-case process where a specified drug had been detected.
