London Mayor Boris Johnson has claimed his “war on roadworks” has cut disruption on the capital’s streets by nearly 40%. There were nearly 4,000 fewer road works on Transport for London’s road network between last April and the end of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010 – a fall of 13%. This helped cut the hours of serious disruption caused by planned roadworks by 182 hours, or 39%, when compared with the previous year, according to TfL figures.
