People seeking help from free debt advice agencies increased during 2011, rising to 1.54 million compared with 1.4 million the previous year, according to research from the Money Advice Trust.
The research, carried out by the University of Nottingham on behalf of the charity, also warned that there is a far larger “latent” demand for such help, with figures showing up to 10 million individuals are facing a “constant struggle” to manage their debts.
