Scrutiny of scrapyards to be stepped up, says PM

Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged to tackle the metal theft crisis spreading across the UK. He said the government was working with the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) to formulate a plan to combat the problem, which would involve scrutiny of the regulations governing scrap metal dealers and the introduction of new more stringent safeguards to police the sector.
