At one point a few years ago it seemed as though the government would call on the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to oversee regulation of the debt recovery sector. But, now that the SIA is due to be abolished, that is clearly not going to happen. So, what are the alternatives?

Self-regulation is one possibility, but the advice sector and other groups are fiercely opposed to this. The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) appears to favour this option, if only to move the process along while incurring...
