The Enforcers 24: Technology for shared spaces

The shared space scheme along the seafront in Southend has received a mixed reaction since it began in April. According to the local press, the scheme has caused confusion and needs to be changed. Perhaps acknowledging this, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has commissioned an independent review of the scheme. In the meantime average speed cameras are being installed to enforce a 20mph speed limit along the 1km road. The Vysionics SPECS3 system will be managed and enforced by Essex Police....
