Mobile patrol to enforce UK’s first workplace levy

Nottingham City Council is using mobile ANPR to ensure that firms have registered the right number of workplace parking spaces

The UK’s first workplace parking levy comes into force in Nottingham in April 2012. Prior to the start of the scheme, businesses in the city will be required to register all their workplace parking spaces from October. Around 500 employers — those with more than 10 parking spaces — will have to pay the levy. This represents about 15% of all companies in Nottingham, according to Nigel Hallam, the council’s senior workplace parking levy officer.
