Flytipping is costing Network Rail nearly £2.5m each year. In 2010 around £1m was spent clearing flytipping and litter on the London North Western route, the line which covers London Euston to the West Midlands and the North of England. The company has responded to more than 5,000 reports of flytipping across the country, while more than 4,000 tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish on railway land was removed.
