The UK is experiencing a massive rise in metal and scrap metal related theft, which is costing the economy over £700m a year. The demand for metals of all types from emerging economies in south Asia is fuelling this increase in metal prices worldwide. The metals most commonly stolen are copper, lead, aluminium, brass and bronze.
