Authorities failed to collect £530m in Council Tax

Councils in England, Scotland and Wales failed to collect £530m in Council Tax in 2009/10, a BBC investigation has found through a Freedom of Information request.

Separate figures obtained by the BBC also show a shortfall of £2.5bn in unpaid Council Tax since it was brought in to replace the unpopular poll tax in 1993.
