No cut in drink-drive limit, but new drug offence likely

The government has rejected lowering the legal drink-drive limit contrary to advice received from a leading legal expert.

Sir Peter North, author of the government commissioned report, said the limit should be reduced, lowering the limit from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg. He said that such a move would save hundreds of lives each year.
