Save the wheel clamp!

The BPA warns that banning clamping on private property could leave English and Welsh landowners with no way to deter unauthorised parking, writes Mark Moran

“Don't ban the wheel clamp,” sounds like an unlikely plea, but it is part of a message Patrick Troy, chief executive of the British Parking Association (BPA), is sending to the Home Office.

The parking body has sent its comments on the Protection of Freedoms Bill, published on 11 February, which proposes banning wheel clamping on private land in England and Wales, so bringing the law into line with long-established practice in Scotland.
