The government's announcement on 14 October of the abolition of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) as a non-departmental public body (NDPB) has created uncertainty not only for the security industry but also for the enforcement profession.

The SIA was due to assume responsibility for the licensing of all enforcement agents from 2012, but this latest development seems to have put a stop to this proposal.
