Norfolk plants roadside trees to slow speeders

Trees and hedges are being planted on rural roads in Norfolk as a traffic calming measure. About 200 trees have been planted on the approach roads to four villages. At three of the villages — Mundesley, Overstrand and Horstead — an “avenue effect” has been created to limit drivers’ peripheral vision causing them to slow down, according to Norfolk County Council. On the approach to Martham, meanwhile, trees have been planted at a decreasing distance apart....
