CCTV cameras fall foul of new pixel rule


 

The network of wireless CCTV traffic cameras used by Westminster City Council has to be upgraded to comply with new Department for Transport (DfT) rules.

Around half of Westminster’s CCTV cameras are affected. The new regulations meant that the council could no longer use the cameras to enforce parking restrictions because the broadcast images use 704x576 pixels rather than the 720x576 pixels demanded by the new regulations.
