The number of penalty charge notices (PCNs) issued to drivers in the capital has fallen by 11% in the last financial year, according to figures from London Councils.
The number of PCNs in 2008/09 reached 5,466,219 compared with 6,176,752 the previous year. The figures include all PCNs issued by the London boroughs and Transport for London (TfL). The fines relate to illegal parking, driving in bus lanes and moving traffic offences such as stopping in yellow box junctions.
