Lord Lucas tables amendment to Crime and Policing Bill

The government has agreed to discuss the case for legislation that will tackle the problem of unregistered vehicles being driven on UK roads.

For over a decade, industry leaders and local authorities have called for new powers to better manage vehicle compliance amid growing challenges such as ghost and cloned number plates, unregistered vehicles and persistent evaders. These issues have increasingly hindered law enforcement efforts and undermined road safety across the UK.
