National Highways not doing enough to protect trees, Woodland Trust tells MPs

National Highways is failing to properly oversee the maintenance and monitoring of tree plantings linked to road projects, a member of the Woodland Trust has told the Environmental Audit Committee.

Nicole Hillier, Principal Policy Advocate, Infrastructure at The Woodland Trust, said she had analysed about 20 National Highways post-project evaluations to understand how well schemes are being monitored and how good maintenance is.
