Driverless cars arrival on UK roads delayed until 2027

Driverless cars will not be appearing on UK roads until at least 2027, a year later than expected, following the government’s decision to delay the introduction of legislation for driverless vehicles.

The previous Conservative government’s projection for driverless cars running on UK roads had been 2026.

Currently, limited self-driving features are permitted, but a driver must remain in control.
