Transport for London (TfL) has updated its Journey Planning app to give cyclists more route options when travelling across the capital.
The digital updates can now be accessed on TfL’s website or the TfL Go app using data relating to routes. This means that routes now prioritise using the TfL Cycleway network for a “more confident journey”, said TfL.
TfL is working with Google to help make cycling in London better by providing enhanced cycling navigation. A new feature on Google Maps helps people in London find lower carbon travel alternatives by providing information about public transport, as well as walking alternatives alongside driving directions, TfL points out.
Will Norman, London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner said: “These latest innovations, delivered both within TfL and through our partnership with Google, are part of our work to make walking and cycling a more attractive option to those making short journeys across London.
“By giving people better information about their travel options, we can further encourage more lower-carbon travel and help reduce congestion, improve people’s health and make London a more attractive place to live, work and socialise.”
