The UK’s greenhouse gas emissions fell by 5.7% in 2023 to their lowest level since 1879, according to new Carbon Brief analysis. While the UK’s emissions are 53% below 1990 levels, transport emissions have only fallen by 10% during the same period, and now make up nearly a third of the UK’s overall total, the report says.
