We chose stricter clean air zone to meet targets, says Bristol

Bristol City Council has defended its decision to introduce a Class D Clean Air Zone (CAZ) after a local newspaper reported a pensioner failed to notice the scheme was stricter than the one in nearby Bath.

The Bristol Daily Post said that the pensioner, who owns a 2015 Euro6 diesel car, was surprised he had to pay a £9 charge to drive into Bristol’s CAZ as his vehicle is compliant in neighbouring Bath’s Class C CAZ.
