Rapid increases in energy prices are affecting passenger transport operators, with one provider reporting a 40% increase in fuel costs in less than year.

Transport Scotland told LTT that it bears the risk of fuel price increases in relation to rail and ferry services. “However, some mitigation is in place in relation to agreed rates for rail traction and fuel price hedges in the medium term.”
