The Welsh Government has doubled the appraisal period for bus infrastructure investment in evaluating its proposals to introduce franchising in all areas of Wales. However, it admits the difficulty of forecasting bus passenger demand over the new 30-year appraisal period, and says local authorities will need to undertake detailed local assessments before commencing on infrastructure such as bus priority measures.
