National Highways plans to install large battery packs at service stations where the grid supply is not enough for rapid electric vehicle charging infrastructure. It is hoped the energy storage systems (ESSs) will end ‘range anxiety’ by improving the network of chargepoints for electric vehicle (EV) drivers using England’s motorways and major A-roads.
