We’re reviewing our plans – and you can help

LTT will be taking a summer break with effect from the next issue. In common with many in the UK transport sector, it’s been a challenging 18 months for us operationally and commercially under the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic, and we are regrouping to get in shape to move forward in some new ways.

As chairman and editorial director of the Landor Group, publishing LTT for more than 30 years, my mission is now to put in place a new model of activities within the framework of our wider specialist independent business securing a sustainable future for the LTT service over coming years commensurate with the expectations of our audience.

General changes in readership practice mean that the costs of producing and distributing a traditional print edition are increasingly difficult to justify.

A number of options for evolving the highly regarded LTT mission are being reviewed during this pause in publication and we plan to have a new model in place by September.

Further embracing new digital information options is very much on our agenda, including building on the smartphone and desktop digital LTT  delivery capability we introduced last September.

To ensure user needs are fully embraced, I am pleased to advise that a ‘friends of LTT’ working party has been established under the chairmanship of Arman Farahmand-Razavi, a senior and widely experienced transport professional, business leader and long-term LTT supporter. It will explore innovative ways forward.

We are particularly keen to reflect both the outlook and needs of those newly joining the UK transport profession, and the changing working practices and information usage patterns of our existing audience. A number of suggestions have already been made to deliver the LTT mission in new ways under a variety of operational arrangements and business models, and Arman and I would be happy to hear from our readers, supporters and other interested parties with any suggestions, proposals or offers of involvement.

Arman’s email address is: lttreview@transportplanning.expert
