Searching for the best rail fares can be regarded as a “chore” by people who willingly shop around for deals in other areas, such as mobile phone contracts, according to research published last week by the DfT.
The research was commissioned to inform the Williams-Shapps plan (see page 4-5). It involved workfocus groups in five areas of England in 2018 and 2019. Further research online involved 20 participants, some of whom were re-recruited from the fieldwork.
