Cardiff Council is considering converting half of an over-engineered road into a linear car park. Lloyd George Avenue was built for the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation by a Private Finance Initative (PFI) consortium.

The dual carriageway, opened in 2000, is about 1.5km long. It runs north-south from near the city centre to Cardiff Bay, the redeveloped docklands area. In 2011, the Treasury said payments to the consortium for the road would total £188.8m over 25 years.
