I enjoyed reading Peter White’s Viewpoint on the prospects for public transport after Covid (‘What are the long-term prospects for public transport after Covid?’ LTT 22 Jan). Peter is one of the few transport academics who has specialised in the bus sector over a long period of time so his views are to be respected. However, the piece was spoiled for me by his cursory dismissal of “the much-vaunted shift to cycling” towards the end.
