The Bailey car park in Skipton, North Yorkshire, lies in the shadow of a Medieval castle tower. The team that run it has commissioned a hand-carved ‘meaningful stone’ created by the West Riding Stone Carving Association. 

The carving features the words Nearer Storam, which was the original name of the field taken from an 18th century map of Skipton. In Medieval times the site was used to corral deer to be culled for the lord of the Castle. “Instead of deer we now corral...
