MSPs approve Scottish workplace parking tax and pavement powers

Scottish local authorities are to have the power to charge a levy on workplace parking and also prohibit parking on pavements under the new Transport (Scotland) Act. The new Act also covers local bus services and low emission zones in cities.

The workplace parking levy (WPL) provisions give local authorities across Scotland the power to charge businesses an annual fee for every parking space they provide for workers.
