The DFT is not saying when it will publish its pipeline of rail enhancement schemes, more than six months into Network Rail’s Control Period 6 (CP6). Rail suppliers have started a campaign for transparency and claim that the way the pipeline process is being managed will increase costs.

Enhancements were included in the programmes for previous control periods but in CP5 (2014-19) many schemes cost more and took longer than expected. In some cases, problems were attributed to the schemes...
