Former Manchester shopping centre site could become temporary car park

Manchester City Council has applied to turn a former shopping centre in Ancoats into a temporary car park.

The demolition of Central Retail Park, a 10.5-acre site on Great Ancoats Street bought in 2017, was completed in June.

In an update to the Eastlands Regeneration Framework published around the same time, the council said it intended to use the site for 500,000 square foot of new office space for technology, media and telecomms sector.
