Listening to the evidence on pavement parking

The House of Commons Transport Committee took oral evidence in two sessions held on 19 June. One session heard from the charities Guide Dogs and Living Streets, as well as the Association of British Drivers. The second session featured local authorities, with evidence submitted by London Councils, Norfolk County Council, Sheffield City Council and PATROL (Parking and Traffic Regulation Outside London).

That can be done only by sending a clear message that you should not presume that you can do it. There should be a presumption that you cannot do it, unless you are told that you can.

Essentially, as in London, you do not do it unless there are signs saying that you can. It is not an outright ban, because obviously there...
