Van driver amasses £32,000 in fines

A van driver has amassed a debt of £32,000 after ignoring 246 penalty notices issued on streets in east London over the past two years.

The van was finally taken to a pound last month by Tower Hamlets Council using a specially-commissioned removals truck.

A Tower Hamlets Council spokesman said the council had been unable to move the white VW Transporter with turbocharged direct injection whenever it had been spotted previously because it was too large for conventional removal trucks.
