Government-funded home chargepoints will have to be ‘smart'

All government-funded electric vehicle chargepoints must use ‘smart’ technology to keep costs down for consumers.

Roads minister Michael Ellis said that from 1 July 2019 all chargepoints backed by the government's Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme must have the ability to be remotely accessed and capable of receiving, interpreting and reacting to a signal.
