British Parking Awards finalists announced

Winners will be revealed on 8 March

13 February 2019

The finalists of the British Parking Awards have been revealed. The short list was selected from a long list of around 120 submissions. The competition was launched by Parking Review magazine in 2002 to recognise and celebrate best practice, innovation and achievement in parking.

The 2019 competition encompasses the design and construction of facilities, innovative technologies, community engagement, green thinking, individual achievement and team work.

Mark Moran, editor of Parking Review and coordinator of the competition, says: “The finalists are now being assessed by a jury made up of experts drawn from across the parking, transport and automotive sectors. They will short list the finalists from which the winners will be selected.”

Shappi’s back
The winners will be revealed by comedian and author Shappi Khorsandi at an awards ceremony that takes place following a 4-star gala lunch held in London on 8 March. This is Shappi’s second appearance at the event, having presented the awards back in 2014. Shappi’s television appearances include Mock The Week, Live at the Apollo and The Big Read. She is also a regular on Radio 4 panel shows, appearing on Just a Minute, Quote Unquote and The Unbelievable Truth, as well as her own series Shappi Talk.

MiPermit backs the parking awards
The British Parking Awards’ headline sponsor is MiPermit, Chipside’s public facing e-commerce platform for digital transformation within local government.
MiPermit enables car park operators to accept electronic payments for pay & display car parking, residents and visitor permits, and season tickets. Digital permits are electronic, meaning drivers do not need to display anything in their vehicles.

In the 15 years since its foundation, Chipside has developed into a technology developer serving 150 local authorities in the UK and millions of citizens. Internationally, Chipside has been showcased by the UK government across the world as an example of British innovation and entrepreneurship.

Paul J Moorby OBE, founder and managing director of Chipside, said: “The management team at Chipside are delighted to be headline sponsor for the British Parking Awards 2019 and the celebration of excellence that it represents.”
