Scope criticises lack of action against misuse of Blue Badges

A disability charity wants councils to take action against people misusing Blue Badge parking permits. Phil Talbot, from Scope, said thefts of disabled permits were rising.

“Stealing Blue Badges isn’t a crime without consequences. They are a vital lifeline for those who genuinely need them,” said Talbot. The charity was responding to analysis by the Press Association that found 94 out of 152 (62%) councils in England did not pursue anyone for abusing the scheme in 2017-18.
