DfT clarifies that shared surfaces hiatus only applies to town centres

The Department for Transport (DfT) has conceded a letter that instructed councils in England to pause work on level surface street designs was targeted at town centres and not residential developments.

The DfT is now working with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to clarify what it means for residential streets.
