Scale of assaults on Welsh council staff revealed

Council workers in Wales, including civil enforcement officers (CEOs), have been attacked almost 6,500 times in the last four years, according to research by BBC Wales.

The broadcaster sent a Freedom of Information Act enquiry to all Welsh councils. The responses revealed that in the four years from April 2014, council employees were attacked at work 6,421 times, with at least 3,500 of these being physical assaults.
