Arriva is to launch its ArrivaClick demand responsive bus service in Liverpool later this summer. The announcement came as Go-Ahead Group subsidiary the Oxford Bus Company launched its PickMeUp on-demand service (LTT 11 May).
Arriva is working with Merseytravel on plans to roll-out ArrivaClick, initially with six vehicles but with a view to having 25 next summer.
ArrivaClick is currently being trialled in Sittingbourne, Kent. Passengers ‘order’ and track a vehicle with an app, which allows them to choose their pick-up point, and reserve a seat. The software of global ride sharing firm Via dynamically routes vehicles in real-time to find the optimal route for their trip. Passengers are then picked up and dropped off by the bus at their chosen point.
PickMeUp is operating in the eastern arc of Oxford, a major employment area.
