Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council has gone phone-only in two of its car parks. The decision to simply use the RingGo service in the car parks is estimated to have already saved the Yorkshire council £40,000 and will mean it does not pay for constant machine maintenance.
The move follows wave of vandalism which saw the council losing £300 per day in thefts, as well as covering the cost of machine replacement.
