Car companies unveil Ionity as brand of EV charging network

A network of electric vehicle charging stations to be created with backing from major car-makers will be branded Ionity.

The founding partners, BMW Group, Daimler, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group, have equal shares in the joint venture. Other automotive manufacturers have been invited to help expand the network.

Ionity will develop and implement a network of 400 high-power charging (HPC) network of across Europe by 2020.
